Cohort #49 and SeattleCoach Magic . . .
This week a few coaches lived it out
On Wednesday the graduating members of Cohort #49 confirmed three of my long-standing hunches.
First, as we asked them to reflect back on where things stood in their lives as they began together way back in September, each one talked about how they’d stood then at the threshold of a transition. The first time they met with this group of strangers who would soon become friends and allies, each one was bravely ready for some big change.
Second, through the turbulence of these past months, each one found their two hours together each week, and in peer coaching, to be times of haven, or as Steve Sirich thought, of sanctuary.
And third, in their next-steps presentations, most of them mentioned one of you SeattleCoaches from earlier cohorts as people who’d inspired them.
I’m just back from a spectacular cruise down the Danube. In addition to the fun with Kari and some great friends, I spent lots of time on the top deck as castles drifted by. So many castles—many standing in ruins. I thought about the people who built them—with such energy and urgency. And I thought about this moment in history where we too can almost feel the world changing. My best hope is that you and I as coaches meet our moment with those three hunches: That we would each stay coachable in the face of change, havens for the people we coach, and inspirations to each other as SeattleCoaches.
