Though Seattle was far from the path of the solar eclipse this week, we were watching. And our pal Seth Godin helped me to reflect on what was so captivating to millions of us as we watched the breath-taking change in the light. “Until recently,” he wrote, “a solar eclipse wasn’t a tourist event. It was the cause of real panic.” Why?

When I was learning to coach, my mentor told me that “what teeth are to a dentist, and what trees are to a lumberjack, change is to a coach.”
In the thousands of conversations about big change since then, and as I’ve watched the members of our tribe in action, it’s become so clear to me that she was right. A skilled and present coach can co-create the difference between change that’s terrifying and change that’s exhilarating.
